The main plot of Pokémon Legends: Arceus revolves around the rift in the sky and the energy coming from it, which is causing the Noble Pokémon of the region to rampage uncontrollably. Players quell their fury by feeding them their favorite snacks in the form of throwable pouches and eventually manage to calm the legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia themselves. It may sound like a compelling story, but it quickly ends up becoming repetitive and dissolving into little more than a series of identical battles. Pokémon Legends: Arceus featured a new capturing system where players manually throw Poké Balls at wild Pokémon in the overworld without needing to enter battle with them. It was a stark contrast from most of the mainline series and added a fun aspect to a mechanic that became highly important due to the game’s focus on filling out the Pokédex as opposed to challenging a Pokémon League or combating an Evil Team. However, Pokémon Legends: Arceus also put too much emphasis on catching Pokémon. If you don’t automatically see the new skill in your Pal’s Active Skills list, don’t panic, it’s still there. You can swap Active Skills in the Active Skills menu for any other moves that your Pal knows.
As you’d expect, catching Pals is a central mechanic in the game. Not only do you need Pals to work in your bases, but you get lots of experience for the first ten of any Pal species you catch and some of the late-game machines you can build require lots of Pals to work.

What makes Palworld so unique compared to other survival and creature-catching games is the reliance on these Pals to help get work done around the base. Whether it’s chopping down trees, mining for stone and ore, or planting seeds to grow some red berries, these Pals will assist with jobs — but only if they possess the necessary traits. To do this, pick up the Pal and throw it on the job that it can work on, and it will immediately begin to put in the labor.
