The damage phase is when the Fireteam no longer has the three teams of two. Instead, everyone should have a given area that they’re in to ensure the tether connects correctly. Destroying the Sanctified Mind’s shoulder in Adamantite Destiny 2 2 will spawn a red portal, and the leg will spawn a blue portal. It’s best to destroy these parts one at a time because Cyclops will spawn every time a portal spawns. Too many Cyclops can become easily overwhelming in this encounter because they each have clear vantage points over the entire Fireteam.
